Hello friends who I just asked to check out this new blog, but who probably also read my other blog!
I'm Kelsey, and I can't focus on one thing... ever.
About a month ago, I was hit in the face with an idea for a story. This idea crept in and took hold, and before I could blink, I realized I was about to set off on another adventure.
I downloaded Scrivener (an incredible app for organizing and writing all kinds of things, including fiction) and began to get my idea out of my brain and into my macbook (my other brain).
I've been plotting and brainstorming. Writing out sequences of events, and creating timelines. I've even been pinning images to a special pinterest board that helps keep me inspired.
But more than anything, I've been writing.
Writing in the morning before work. Writing in the evening after dinner. Writing before bed. I've been trying to write every time I can, because I feel so strongly connected to this story, I can't let it go untold.
I've found myself drawn to blogs written by other writers, and also those from other areas of the literary world.
I decided that, since this evening, I met a major milestone in my WIP (work in progress) that I would start keeping track of things on a slightly separate piece of the internet, so that I would always remember the feeling of writing this story.
Today, I wrote the 10,000th word (actually, the 10, 351st) word of my novel, and I couldn't be prouder.
I think that this milestone means a lot to me because it makes it seem real. It was real to me before, but now, I can see-- even more clearly, that I am writing a novel.
So, there's that. :)
I hope you'll take a second to follow my blog on google reader or friend connect, and to follow me on twitter.
I look forward to sharing this journey with you.
